가회동 31번지 한옥밀집지역으로 올라가는 길의 서쪽편에 위치하고 있다. 좁은 막힌 골목을 통해 진입할 수 있다. 앞뒤로 몇몇 한옥들이 남아있지만, 대지의 남쪽과 북쪽에 큰 다세대주택이 들어서있다. ㄱ자형 안채의 남쪽에 일자형 안채가 조합되어 동쪽으로 열린 ㄷ자형 평면을 이루고 있다. 안채보다 지붕채의 지붕이 낮게 물리면서, 지붕의 형태가 복잡하다. 원래 문간채 앞에 작은 마당이 있었으나, 현재는 문간방을 늘여서 사용하고 있다. 안마당과 안채는 부엌을 입식으로 고쳤을 뿐, 비교적 한옥의 모습이 잘 보존 되어 있다. 특히 대청은 우물 마루와 연등천정이 옛 모습 그대로 잘 보존되어있다.
Kahoi-dong No. 79-12 is located on the west side of the ascending hill leading to Kahoi-dong No. 31, the Hanok concentrated area. You can enter through a narrow dead-end alley. At its front and back there remain several Hanoks, but at the south and north ends, are big multiple lodging buildings. To the south of its ‘ㄱ-giyeok’ shaped inner quarters, there are linear inner quarters which together form a ‘ㄷ- digeut’ shaped floor plan which opens towards the east. As the roof of the main gate area meets the inner courtyard roof at a lower level, the shape of the roof became quite complex. The enlarged outer quarters are currently in use after having been extended into the small outer courtyard. The inner courtyard and the inner quarters retain their original Hanok pattern relatively well except for the renovated kitchen which is in the western style. In particular, Dae cheong (the main wooden floored reception area) retains the old original features in its hash-patterned wooden floors as well as the original Yeon-deung ceilings. (Yeon-deung ceilings reveal all the timber beams and other materials used to create it.)
